Black Kitty in Tangshan

During my holiday in Tangshan, I met a new friend- a poor little cat. I dunno which family it came from but obviously it was thin and hungry. And I found that it liked to eat corn, so continuous feeding it corn made it stay in the garden of my grandparents. Every time I opened the door and came out of the house, it looked at me and started to talk to me with “meow meow”.

National Holiday in Tangshan

Al marking his students’ paper in grandparents’

We spent 6 days holiday in my mum’s parents’ in Tangshan. The last I went to visit them was when I was 12. Their home hasn’t any changes. They still live a simple and plain country life. For Al, it was his first time to see the Chinese country-side. Read his feelings here.  During the stay, we visited many relatives-my grandpa’s brothers and my grandma’s side. Apart from that, I had been enjoying sunshine in the garden.

Al spent most of his time either on watching TV shows on laptop or marking the students’ paper

UK Trip- Scotland

Friday, October 9th, 2009
Finally I decided to post my UK trip series with photos. I would like to start with our stay in Scotland where of course it was cloudy or rainy. I asked Al’s father: “How many days per week does it rain here?” He answered,” Six and a half.”

Taken by my boyfriend when we had a walk near grandparents’ home in Cupar, Fife.

Uncle Steve’s House in Dundee.
Finally we found the rain much lighter and nearly stopped. So before the lunch time in grandparents’, Al’s father gave us a ride around the town of St. Andrews which is a famous university town in Scotland.  Although we only had a brief sightseeing in the car, I liked this little lovely town and felt I would like to come back again. Wendy said she was considering to apply for the university cause she was told their president was a handsome noble man.

Grandma was knitting a trendy hat. Finding that I’m interested in vintage stuffs and antiques, she was pleased to show me the old things they had in the house. Some of them are over 100 years old. And she gave me an old wedgewood plate as a present when I left.

Grandpa likes sitting in his chair reading newspaper or watching TV. He’s gonna be 90 years old this year.

Near the End of My UK Holiday

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Finally when Im on holiday in UK, outside China, I can get access to my blogger. How time flies! We’ve been here for nearly 3 weeks. And tonight is the last night we have at Al’s parents’ house. We are gonna leave to London tomorrow morning and fly back to China in the evening…

We’ve been enjoying the family’s company. Al’s parents have been very kind and generous to me. His sis is a very clever and talented girl, and also a good baker.

We have gone to Walker Art Gallery, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Tate Modern Liverpool, Machester University Art Gallery, William Art Gallery, had the Beatles’ magic tour and the first experience in Old Trafford watching the first team training of United!

Al and I quite enjoyed the wandering in Chester which remains some Roman historic spots. I liked the Tudor’s hourses there as well. In the last part of the holiday, we went to Scotland to visit Al’s grandparents and uncle Steve, and then travelled to Huntingdon to visit uncle David.

The holiday has been fun and wonderful. It’s about to be over soon. We will arrive in Beijing on Saturday night and take the night train to Dalian on Sunday. Then I will head to the office on Monday morning after the train arrives at 7am. So yeah, the time has been tight since the very beginning to the end! ( I was refused to get the visa at first, and got it for the second try one day before we left to UK)

The two photos were taken by Al of me sketching in Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight Village.

Waiting outside the Shanghai Museum in a long queue.

Here’s a lady reading a book called “Shanghai’s Journal” in the crowds…

I saw this man while drinking tea in the teahouse inside the museum.I think he’s an Ameircan-Chinese.
